The South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) subcontracted Mpamba Solutions & Consulting in 2012 to undertake the Program Management and rolling out of the Information and Communication Technology for their Head-Office renovation assignment.
Project Overview
Mpamba provided SAMWU’s Cape Town office with expert IT support which implemented their entire Network and Infrastructure solution, from the design and installation of their network cabling to their daily network operations. The project was successfully completed by the end of January 2014.
Key functions undertaken by Mpamba:
- Installation and Configuration of a WAN and LAN – Cisco-based Network
- Installation of Security Biometric System – Finger Print Access Control
- Installation and Configuration of Blade Server – Server Management
- Migration of old systems to a new virtual server platform
- Installation and configuration of a Telephony Solution – Integration of Iburst & Cisco IP Telephony
- Remote and onsite Troubleshooting – Network, Application, and Desktop
- Setting up VLAN’s, Routing and Switching, Firewall security, WIFI, and VOIP phones with conference capabilities.
- Installing and setting up new hardware servers and VMware
- Installing Switches, Access Points, Firewall and VOIP phones
- Pulling cables for floor points and installing printers
- Installing and setting up various software packages, Microsoft, and Sage
- Maintaining Network, Servers, and Backups
- Continued support & desktop management
